Enterprise technology capability refers to the sum of all endogenous knowledge stocks attached to internal personnel, equipment, information and organizations to support the reality of technological innovation. Its essence is the knowledge owned by the enterprise.

The evolution of an enterprise′s technological capability originates from the enterprise′s technological learning. With the absorption, transformation and application of relevant technical knowledge, it is a complex dynamic process, mainly including four stages of socialization, externalization, integration and internalization, which is shown as a continuous process and a unified whole rising continuously.

1 Socialization stage. Through observation, perception, dialogue, imitation and constant practice, the tacit technical knowledge, such as skills, experiences and know-how that are difficult to express, mental models and tacit understanding of organizations, can be exchanged and shared within and among the subjects at different levels of the enterprise, so as to realize the transformation from tacit technical knowledge to tacit technical knowledge in the process of the evolution of the enterprise′s technical capability.

2 Externalization stage. Through metaphors, analogies, charts, concepts and models, the tacit technical knowledge owned by the entities at different levels of the enterprise that can be made explicit is expressed in terms of concepts, languages and words, so as to realize the transformation from tacit technical knowledge to explicit technical knowledge during the evolution of the enterprise′s technological capabilities.

3 Comprehensive stage. Through sorting, classification, ordering, integration and consistency inspection, the decentralized and unsystematic explicit technical knowledge obtained in the externalization stage and the original explicit technical knowledge of the enterprise are organically integrated, formatted and standardized, so as to realize the transformation from explicit technical knowledge to explicit technical knowledge in the process of the evolution of the enterprise′s technical capability.

4 Internalization stage. Through reading, listening, practicing and learning by doing, we can further sublimate all kinds of relevant explicit knowledge of enterprises and internalize it into new and higher tacit technical knowledge of different levels of enterprises, so as to realize the transformation from explicit technical knowledge to implicit technical knowledge in the process of the evolution of enterprises′ technological capabilities.
